Wing Li

Wing Li received her Bachelor of Arts in Visual Arts from Hong Kong Baptist University. She is interested in ink art, especially in the subject of landscape. She is fascinated by how ancient Chinese literati artists expressed their emotions toward nature. Through her artwork, she explores the spiritual enlightenment and hidden beauty in today's material and information-dominated society, aiming to subvert the conventional forms and aesthetics in Chinese ink art.

The four ink paintings in the series “Between the Sea and Rocks” depict the artist’s tranquil memories of walking on the rocky beach with her family. In traditional Chinese landscape paintings, stones have been known as the “bones of mountains and lakes”. But unlike reality, the stones on the beach will gradually alter due to sea erosion, like the subtle changes and confusion in memories. The time and space, walking on the rocky shore, hovers between day and night, black and white.
