Born in 1987 in Russia, Zara Oskar is a passionate visual artist and art teacher. She currently lives and works in Hong Kong.

Zara started painting when she was very small. She was studying in Art School when she was 10. Throughout her teenage years and twenties Zara described art as her hobby, until one day she decided to take the plunge from hobby to career. After studies in Finance, working in fashion retail and living in China for 5 years, she rediscovered her brushes and back to paint in Hong Kong.

She started with an oil painting but quickly came to realise that working quickly could give her stroke more momentum and therefore enormous dynamic. With the discovery of acrylic she was able to allow her solid basic knowledge of, not only the meticulousness and heavy art of oil painting but also the light and rapid technique.

Discovering the spontaneous realism movement and abstract painting about 3 years ago has made a real difference to her art, which has developed in a vibrant new direction.
Colours, emotions and love – words to describe her paintings.
“I found I could say things with color and shapes that I couldn’t say any other way – things I had no words for.”

Since 2012, Zara Oskar’s work has been exhibited few times in Russia. Making her work known through exhibitions is very important for her insofar as it shows the level of interest and emotion that her paintings generate. She also really enjoys the feedback from people who have bought her works, knowing that such an item will have an important place in the life of someone else.
