Sindy Yeung is a self-taught Hong Kong artist. She started making art in 2020, after resigning from her project management job to rethink about herself and life. She once felt very lost until picking up the paint brush, which she often did in childhood. Instead of depicting an “object” or pursuing particular techniques, Sindy aims more to present a vibe and share her worldview, values and self-searching journey. Sindy mainly paints with acrylic on canvas, and sometimes with pastel and collages on paper carton. Her art style transcends abstract and realism, and often brings surrealism elements.

Since 2022, Sindy has created the “My Wonderland” series. Each piece in the series features a girl going on an adventure, sometimes solo and sometimes with her inner child, in the Wonderland. The world presented in this series is vibrant and dreamy, yet full of unknowns and sometimes difficult. It is whimsical yet echoing what happens within us and around us — about our self-identify and struggles in life, the city we live in, environmental issues etc. Sindy invites viewers to visit her inner world and share with them how she, as an individual, encounters these issues. At the same time, the viewers may revisit their inner world and the child within, and rethink about these issues too.
