A ROSE

HKD$10,827.00

Artist: Roberta Cavallari

Description: The rose transmits light and softness. This is a rose that alludes to the rebirth of the soul but also of the body, which shines with white light in a very dark night, inside a room, a surreal vision. The only reference to spatiality is the wooden top, on which three languid eyes appear. It is the only work in which a part of the body appears, the reference to surrealism is clear, while the perspective elements are eliminated in favor of a dreamlike suspension.

Artist

Roberta Cavallari

Roberta Cavallari (1975), is an italian artist from Bologna. She graduated in painting and photography at the Academy of Arts in Bologna. In his training, she experimented from painting to photography and video art. The first projects are characterized by performances and video installations, focused on the theme of “places and non-places”. Internationally she worked with Galerie Proarta (Zurich, Swiss), she performed in public spaces like Ex Teresa Arte Actual, (Mexico City) and held a solo show in Buenos Aires (Argentina), at the Centro Cultural Borges. In Italy her works have been exhibited in art galleries and public spaces such as Galleriapiù (Bologna), Curva Pura (Rome), Arsenale (Venezia), Palazzo delle Esposizioni (Turin), Museo Civico Ariosto (Ferrara), Museo Civico del Santo (Padua), Oratorio della Passione (Milan), Durini Foundation (Milan). During the 2009 Venice Biennale she realized a site specific installation at Palazzo Zenobio degli Armeni, and in 2011 she took part at the Venice Biennale. Her video and performance activity in Italy has taken place in various festivals and public spaces including Porta Degli Angeli (Ferrara), Tenuta dello Scompiglio, (Lucca), Artefiera, Artelibro, Booming Art Show. Among the various prizes in which she is a finalist we highlight: Celeste Prize, Nocivelli Prize, Prima Pagina Art Prize, Combat Prize and Exibartprize. Since 2014 she has focused on painting: from a pop transfiguration, which characterized her academic years, centered on social issues, she moved on to the description of spaces, furnishings and objects, that characterize the last project “Silent Furniture”. The common thread is the interior architecture, while the external appears through windows, and the human body is rarely seen. Absence and emptiness create a metaphysical dimension, in which objects and furnishings emerge like silent totems on a stage where the curtain is about to rise.
