Rafaela Ahsan

I have always felt more comfortable in international environments such as airports or diverse city quarters. Coming from a mixed background, and having lived in Bulgaria, Canada, and the Netherlands, has made me appreciate the richness of diversity and what different cultures have to teach us. My training as an architect reinforced this, and brought about a fascination with people and the places they inhabit. My studies and lust for travel have taken me to places like India, Ghana and Morocco where I have seen some of the poorest conditions and met some of the kindest, most resilient souls. I have learned to adapt, accept and learn from every place I visit and implement those teachings within my daily life. I don’t feel like I have one real home or belong to one specific country—I consider myself a citizen of the world, as cliché as that may sound.
