I enjoy painting in oil and most of my works are in this medium. Using oils, with their great flexibility and range, fosters the creative evolution of the painting and I find working with oils both relaxing and therapeutic. I love colour and the ways oil paints can be blended and mixed is incredibly appealing.
One of my great passions is travel which I inspiring and energising. It is the stimulus for many of my paintings. The process of painting crystallises the moment in my memory and brings me much closer to the subject than a photo ever could. I paint for myself, not an audience. Paintings I like, I want to keep as reminders of places and people. They surround me on my walls at home. Themes I love to explore include people, culture and the natural environment.
For me, art is a window on many worlds. The one you see, the one you idealise and the one you find aesthetically pleasing come swiftly to mind. As an amateur, I am limited by technical expertise, but treading the artistic journey it doesn’t matter how fast or slow you go, only that you set out and keep moving.
